Foundation for the window - how to install it correctly?

Foundations made of materials based on rigid polyurethane foam, such as PUREMATIC and TERMATIC, provide solid support for windows, doors and HST systems. For the installation to be durable and effective, several key rules must be followed during installation.

  1. Preparing the groundwork

The foundations are milled in accordance with the specification of the joinery profile, such as a frame or threshold, based on internal designs or individual customer orders. Thanks to this, they fit perfectly into a given system.

  2. Preparation of the mounting surface

To ensure proper seating of the foundation, the mounting surface should be:

    - exactly level,

    - smooth and dry,

    - free from loose mortar remains and defects.

Any defects must be removed before installation. Additionally, the surface must be dusted and primed.

  3. Connecting the foundations with the joinery structure

Before installing the foundation, you should:

    • check the correctness of dimensions and milling adjustment,

    • make sure that the components are not damaged.

    Then:

    1. Clean the surfaces of the joined elements.

    2. Drill holes in the foundation for mounting screws (every 15-20 cm from the edge and at a maximum spacing of 60 cm) to avoid cracking of the material.

    3. Apply sealing adhesive to the ground beam.

    4. Optionally, use additional seals, such as expansion tapes.

    5. Match the foundation to the frame profile, secure with carpentry clamps and screw in the mounting screws (the selection of screws depends on the specification of the joinery and the thickness of the foundation).

  1. Embedding in the window/door opening

The place where the joinery is installed should be sealed with glue or another sealant. It can be applied directly to the foundation or to the surface of the opening. In case of unevenness, point support should be used with support blocks every 40 cm, at a distance of 10-15 cm from the edge of the wall. Additionally, you can strengthen the connection with the floor using angle brackets of sizes adapted to the specifications of the element being installed.

Summary

Correct installation of PUREMATIC and TERMATIC foundations guarantees the stability and durability of window and door joinery. It is important to thoroughly prepare the substrate, precisely match the elements and use appropriate mounting and sealing techniques. Following these rules will avoid thermal bridges and ensure long-term durability of the structure.
